Things that make you think

We all make decisions, some are good and some are bad. Many are quick and some are well though out. Some of us even make decisions not to make decisions.

Light of Life, a 30 second sermon

Jesus said, I am the light of the world, Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

Last Will Be First, a 30 second sermon

The last will be first and the first will be last. What did Jesus mean by this?

Five Loaves and Two Fish, a 30 second sermon

Elisha fed 100 men with twenty loaves of bread, and God told him that there would be some left over. Jesus fed 5,000 with only five loaves of bread and two fish with twelve baskets left over.

Twelve Thrones, a 30 second sermon

Jesus told the twelve that at the renewal of all things, you who have followed me will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel

Chosen, a 30 second sermon

A young man stood by and watched in approval as the crowd stoned one of the group called "The Way."

Running, a 30 second sermon

Jonah ran, but God caught him. A good friend at work recommended Andy Stanley's series on Jonah and I was impressed.

Islam - A Distraction?

Islam has become a distraction to what is really going on in the world. If you want to get something done, then create a distraction.

The Power of Ninety

The Power of Ninety is not what it seems, think of it this way, ten is the 10 percent that we give in tithes. Ninety is the percent that is left and what we do with it is the power of Ninety!

The Choir Director

Long ago there was a choir director who was very popular and handsome. He was also proud and thought highly of himself. As time went on he plotted to take charge and take a place above all others. He was expelled along with one third of the congregation to a far away place where he ruled for a long time.

Is one of God's Tools a Superbubble?

Science has always held a strong interest for me and I am always amazed when I learn of a new discovery that may be the instrument of God.

Prayer is an Awesome Thing

As Christians, we have a great responsibility with what we ask for when we pray. When Jesus taught his disciples how to pray, He only asked for one material thing in the example He gave them. Give us each day our daily bread. What an awesome request, each day we live in danger and sometimes never know how close we come to death. But I think that this request for each day goes much deeper.

Prayer, Does God always Grant Us Our Request?

We know that God answers our prayers, but does he always grant our request? We read in 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 where Paul pleaded with the Lord three times to remove his thorn in the flesh and God told him "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." God did answer Paul. However, He did not grant his request.

God is at work in Pakistan

As I listen to the speaker from Pakistan at our small church, I was spell bound and struck by his open and powerful testimony of how God has used him. I had to listen closely to his broken English, but his message came across strong and clear. I learned the truth about life under the Musilum and Taliban influence, and although I had heard about such things in the news it was quite different hearing about it first hand.

Complacency in the Church, Why do we have it?

Complacency or the lack of a sense of urgency in a church is one of the main hindrances to change and progress. This is of course not only true with churches but also the case in businesses. We are referred to in Revelation as the Laodicea church, lukewarm, neither hot or cold. Christ says that he is about to spit us out. He wished that we were either hot or cold, but because we are only lukewarm he will spit us out. This is a very strong statement and is very true, so why are we so complacent?

Complacency in the Church, Overcoming It?

Complacency is overcome by change, however in order to have change you must first overcome complacency. This is the chicken and egg problem, which comes first. Change begins with a single powerful person, spreads from him or her to a few others through examples, produces some group benefit, and then spreads still more widely. In order to bring about change you must have a plan or a program.

Is Your Church in Alignment?

When the message, medium and market are in alignment with each other you have the best situation. They are all good, but they must have good alignment. They may not be in balance, but should be in alignment. For example the message must reach the market.

How Blessed is your Giving?

Two people earn the same amount, both tithe and give, one appears to be blessed more than the other. The amount of their offerings are the same also. The difference could be in the procedure they follow.

In The Beginning

Three of the most powerful and thought provoking words ever written, "In The Beginning." We have no way of knowing what was before "The Beginning" and we do not know when the "Beginning" started. All we can do is look back in time.
